A/C and P trap? Are gases forming?
If a long hose is in place and the condensation is flowing well, is a P trap still needed? Reverse flow? Or are they talking about, unable to flow (drain)? Where would the gases be generating from if the water run off is just condensation from the coils? The water sits in a pan under the coils and once the hose builds up with kelp like fungus then it's blocked. The water fills the pan, then overflows. Over the edge of the pan and travels onto and into the unit, the floor, etc.. Can I bypass the P trap and use a longer hose?

there is no gasses formed from a a/c drip pan,
some one has no clue to what there talking about,
remove the P trap, not needed, as for the algae build up its cold water algae, put a chlorine tablet in the pan, it will kill the algae, you can get them at most hardware stores , or pool supply,s
we use the 3 inch tablets , [they last longer]
