When it comes to registration, the owners of motorcycles in Texas need to complete similar procedures as when registering cars. You need proof of ownership and insurance, a safety inspection certificate obtained at an official inspection station, and a document confirming your identity. The initial registration must be made in person at the County Tax Assessor-Collectors office, but later on you can renew by mail or online. The cost is approximately $40 per year.
Once you have registered your bike, you can hit the road. However, you must remember some basic rules for motorcycle owners in Texas:
- You need to pass a skill test first to qualify for a TX DPS motorcycle license
- A safety helmet is required for those under the age of 21. Riders over 21 do not have to wear a helmet as long as they possess proof of successful completion of a rider training course, or $10,000 in medical insurance
- Periodic safety inspection of the motorbike is required once a year
Texas Motorcycle Rallies
As the motorcycle community in the Lone Star State grows, there are numerous events prepared for riders in Texas.
One of the most popular is the Republic of Texas (ROT) Biker Rally, which takes place in June every year. In 2009, the rally hosted 200,000 visitors and bikers in the city of Austin. The attractions included a master builders show and competition, motorcycle parade, biker games, 'Wall of Death' show, and many others.
Another interesting event for riders is the annual South Texas Motorcycle Show. The exhibitions are provided by both domestic and international manufactures and dealers. It is a perfect opportunity to explore the latest models of motorcycles that have been introduced as well as those still waiting to be launched into the market.
You have a chance to get a closer look at motorcycles in Texas during the 'Cycle World' International Motorcycle Shows. The next event of this series is planned for November 13-15, 2009 at the Dallas Convention Center. The exhibition will include street bikes, dirt bikes, fuel efficient bikes, cruisers, scooters, ATVs, UTVs, watercrafts, and accessories. The event will also feature demo rides, informative seminars, interactive entertainment, and other attractions.

I'm looking for a printed catalog that has every atv/utv that's been made since the age of three wheelers that has all of their pictures. Their specs and msrps would be nice but are not really necessary. I've seen similar catalogs for bikes and cars but was wondering if anyone has a link to a site where I could order one of these or something close to it.
