Why is my PS3 Dualshock 3 controller refusing to recharge?
It started a few hours ago. I was playing MW2 (as you do) and the controller ran out of juice. I went to charge it, left it for a few seconds, and no lights. Nothing appeared as a signal it was charging. I tried three more cables, but it didn't change the result. I'm also low on money right now, so I don't want to have to buy another controller, since each one brand new costs about £30 each.
I have tried to stick a needle in the USB socket slots in the controller to realign the metal contacts, but it hasn't worked that way either.
Is there anything you can do?
The controller in question is an official PS3 Dualshock3 SIXAXIS Controller which came as standard with the console. The console is protected by a three-year warranty, but the controller isn't.
I only had the console for 7 months.

either it needs to be reset ( small hole - top rear )
or the batteries are worn out , rechargeable batteries only charge so many times and wear out quicker if they aren't left to die completely between charges
