PJ Larsen, in his first off road racing endeavor, won the A250 class in the SE&TRA;/ 35th Annual Swamp Fox Enduro held in the Francis Marion National Forest today. The race is held each January in PJ's home town of Awendaw, South Carolina. Even though the trails are only 20 miles from PJ's house, he only rides the area a couple of times a year as moto-cross is his primary focus. The trails were totally revamped for the event and were fresh for all in attendance. The race was over 50 miles long and was run at a blistering 30 mile per hour average, taking the leaders nearly two hours riding time to complete.
For those folks not familiar with SE&TRA; Enduro racing, it is a timed competition in which you gain points when you deviate from your time mark.In the end, the low score wins. AA rider Barry Hawk (factory Yamaha) won the overall with one point. AA rider and current National Enduro Champion Russell Bobbitt (KTM support) ran second with 2 points and third was a three way tie between AA rider Charles Mullins (factory yamaha), PJ Larsen (Kawasaki Team Green/ Moto-cross) and A250 rider Andrew Matusek (Kawasaki Team Green/ Off road). In the end, the timed seconds of deviation at the check points broke the tie and it finished out as listed above. Not too shabby for a kid in his first enduro running on a wrist watch, unaided by computers or roll sheets!

Just wanted to let everyone know it is always a joy to have PJ at my track. He never ceases to amaze all of us there. Pj has a natural racer ability, is a motocross champion and will always be in our book. I raced Washougal in the Top Gun Team Shootout for my team Paulsons Suzuki. I raced the 125 C class and did alright, I crashed and had to DNF though on moto 2 out of 3. On the 3rd moto I had to race with a sprained wrist. But overall I got a 15th overall out of 32 riders.
