Where do I find the vacuum line on the intake of a 1982 Suzuki GS 750?
I have acquired a 1982 Suzuki GS 750 that I am trying to rebuild. The gentleman who previously had to replaced the tank/petcock. I know the original petcock had a vacuum line on it. I was told that the vacuum line was just a safety feature and wasn't needed, all I have to do is simply plug the vacuum port(s) on the intake. Where would I find them?
Answer:
Petcock vacuum port is a 5mm brass nipple located top/front/center of #2 carb.
Here's a decent picture from Ebay of a 1980 carb.
Same as your '82
The larger hose in the background is the 7mm fuel line
If you simply Cap it,,,,clamp it in place with any simple ,convenient means.
On Rare occasion it Can spit the cap off.

The Way To Clean Storage Tanks For Water Heater
They say that water heating is the second largest energy consumer after space heating. With this is it very vital to make sure that the water heater is operating efficiently. Standard electric tank units naturally vented, power vented and direct vented natural gas, propane, oil fired units, heat pump units and solar water heater units are some things that can be done in order to improve the performance of storage tank water heaters.
The temperature of the water heater has to be minimized. In times when water is not heated, the storage tanks losses heat to its surroundings. By reducing the temperature setting of the water heater, a reduction in the amount of heat lost from the tank between uses will occur. For more information on water tanks check out Concrete Water Tanks.
Make sure that the temperature in the storage tank should not be lower than 50 to 55 degrees Celsius for gas fired units and 55 to 60 Celsius for electrically powered units to eliminate bacterial growth. After this make sure to add tank insulation. Reducing the heat loss will help if you install additional insulation to the tank. At the same time you want to remember not to add insulation to a water heater that is fuelled by oil.
Replace the anode rod. A lot of storage tanks require a device called an anode rod to prevent it from corroding. Today advancements in water heater technology include cold water supply tubes that act as anode rods.
Always be sure that you clean the inside of the tank. After a while, sediment from the intentional breakdown of the anode rod and from minerals in the water supply collects at the bottom of water heater tanks. If this goes on the sediment reduces the efficiency of the water heater and may cause the water heater to wear out prematurely. More resources on water tanks can be found here at Water Tanks Nsw.
If this is not looked into it can have the potential to promote the unhealthy growth of bacteria. Be aware that it is recommended that other types of water heaters are cleaned out every six to 12 months.
Keep in mind that you have the water heater inspected. Getting an inspection will allow you to see the condition of the burners and heat transfer surfaces in fuel fired water heaters. Without this dirty burners and heat transfer surfaces reduce the performance of the water heater.
Be sure to check the temperature and pressure relief valve also. What a temperature and pressure relief valve on tank type water heaters is is a safety feature designed to prevent catastrophic failures of the water heater. In this case, when either the temperature or pressure in the tank exceeds certain limits the valve opens.
Since these valves are not always open, it is common for them to stick closed, increasing the severity of problems that could arise if the water heater should fail. Reducing heat loss fro the bottom of the tanks will need for you to install the water heater on a piece of plywood over rigid insulation.
